HOW KALSHI WORKS

Buy or sell a contract on the outcome of a real-world event. Prices reflect probability. The counterparty is another participant on the exchange.

// WHAT THIS OPERATOR IS

KALSHI AT THE
INSTITUTIONAL LEVEL.

Kalshi operates a federally regulated event contract exchange under CFTC oversight. Participants trade yes/no contracts whose settlement value depends on the outcome of a listed real-world event, including sports outcomes where Kalshi lists them.

Because Kalshi is regulated as a designated contract market at the federal level rather than under state-by-state gaming statutes, listed contracts are generally available nationally, subject to Kalshi's own product listing decisions and terms.

Sports-outcome contracts sit alongside non-sports event markets on the same account. The exchange model means Kalshi itself is not a counterparty to any single contract; it matches participants on opposite sides of each listed event.

// WHY IT MATTERS

THE STRUCTURAL CASE,
NOT THE MARKETING CASE.

Federal event-contract regulation is a structurally different oversight regime than state sports-betting licensing. For a visitor whose state has thin or no legal mobile sportsbook access, a CFTC-regulated exchange is a nationally available alternative venue for expressing a probability view on the same events.

Contract prices on Kalshi are a direct probability read, which a bettor already comfortable translating a WagerBird confidence score into a probability can compare against a sportsbook line on the same event to see where the two markets disagree.

Kalshi and Polymarket both sit in the event-contract lane of this desk but run under different regulatory postures. A sophisticated user treats them as two venues to check, not as substitutes for each other.

KALSHI INSIDE THE
WAGERBIRD WORLDVIEW.

The operator is the venue. WagerBird Terminal scores picks across markets the visitor can access. Where a pick the model produces is also listed on Kalshi, the visitor can take it on Kalshiif they prefer the operator's mechanic or the sportsbook stack is unavailable.

The Learn module covers what event contract platform is at a structural level, how the mechanic differs from a sportsbook wager, where the strategic edges show up, and how to size positions inside a multi-operator stack.

The sportsbook stack

For visitors whose state allows state-licensed sports betting, the sportsbook stack carries different liquidity, different markets, and different commercial structures. Most sophisticated bettors run accounts across both.
