The Streak Trap

A five-game hot streak is not the team. It is a sample drawn from the twenty-game baseline. Mean reversion is the math, and the WagerTrend Hot Hand Fade rule pays when the streak meets the suppressor.

The Worked Example

This episode uses today's Houston Astros Team Total Under 3.50 vs Texas Rangers as the live case study. Houston dropped eight, nine, and seven runs in their last three games. The five-game average exploded to six point two. The twenty-game baseline still reads three point four. Strip the streak and the prior seventeen games average two point six. Jacob deGrom at a three point eight six ERA finishes the regression.
