The news

Long absences reshape the rotation

Holmgren's right-knee tendon injury carries an 8-10-week recovery window. Jalen Williams and Wallace have had operations and are scheduled for another assessment before the regular season ends.

Mitchell and McCain take larger roles

Daigneault has started Mitchell and McCain as injuries have reduced his options. Mitchell produced a career-high 30 points against Phoenix, and McCain scored 18.

More work for the young bench

Rookies Aday Mara and Bennett Stirtz are being asked to play more. Stirtz scored 11 points against Houston; Jaylin Williams also remains a reserve option at center.

Road scoring has stalled

The Thunder scored 96 at Dallas and 98 at Houston. Gilgeous-Alexander led them with 26 in Houston, where the Rockets took control before halftime.

The read

Injuries have changed Mark Daigneault's rotation. Jalen Williams had surgery after a fractured left fibula and ankle dislocation. Cason Wallace had surgery on his left shoulder. Both are due another assessment before the regular season ends. Chet Holmgren received treatment for a small tear in his right patellar tendon, with an announced return window of 8-10 weeks. Caruso is also sidelined by a right ankle sprain.

Ajay Mitchell and Jared McCain have moved into starting roles. Mitchell scored a career-high 30 points against Phoenix, while McCain contributed 18. Isaiah Hartenstein remains the starting center, with rookie Aday Mara taking on more work. Bennett Stirtz is also getting a larger role and scored 11 points in Houston.

Tonight's visit to Cleveland continues the road schedule against another 4-2 team. Watson's hamstring status leaves Cleveland's projected lineup unsettled. A current official game-day injury filing could not be confirmed, so the listed absences and projected starters remain provisional.
