South Florida is 5-2, with a 3-1 home record and a 2-1 road record. The Bulls followed losses to Temple and UTSA with a 29-2 win over Kent State and a 30-10 win over UAB. Defense has carried the recent improvement while the offense has continued to struggle through the air.
Brian Hartline has not named tonight's starting quarterback. Michael Van Buren Jr. left the UAB game with an injury, and his availability remains unannounced. Luke Kromenhoek replaced him and rushed for 92 yards. South Florida finished that game with 46 passing yards. Hartline has said the passing game needs to improve, and the offense has scored only three touchdowns across the latest two games.
Against UAB, C.J. Hicks recorded four sacks and forced two fumbles. Both turnovers became touchdowns. Grayson Howard added eight tackles, two sacks and a fumble-return touchdown. Nico Gramatica made all three of his field-goal attempts. These performances came during a game in which South Florida gained 237 offensive yards.
The Bulls now visit East Carolina at 6:30 PM CT. The conference availability report remains pending, so older absence lists do not establish tonight's status. The projected lineups are provisional, and ECU's replacement safety is not confirmed. David Coleman Jr. is sidelined with a broken leg.

South Florida produced 46 passing yards against UAB. The offense has scored three touchdowns across its latest two games, and Hartline has identified passing production as an area needing improvement.
