Trail Blazers at Suns preview: what our research says
Portland takes a 5-1 record into Phoenix, with a 1-1 home mark and a 4-0 road record. The latest results were a 118-110 win at Denver and a 112-90 win at Utah. The Memphis loss remains the interruption in a start that also included a 124-83 opening win over Phoenix.
Deni Avdija has led the recent scoring. He had 28 points in Denver after scoring 24 at Utah. Donovan Clingan added 17 points and 18 rebounds against the Nuggets. Jrue Holiday contributed a near triple-double from the bench, so the latest road win included production beyond the starting guards.
Micah Nori is in his first season as head coach. Damian Lillard has returned from injury and scored 25 in the opener. Portland also changed its backcourt by acquiring Ja Morant from Memphis for Jerami Grant and Kris Murray. Robert Williams III has rejoined the rotation and is expected to play again tonight.
Morant is now out with a left hamstring strain. The October 30 update scheduled another assessment after four weeks. Shaedon Sharpe remains out after right knee meniscus surgery. Scoot Henderson started in Denver and is available tonight, making him the projected replacement alongside Lillard. Henderson also entered the season without a rookie-scale extension after talks ended without an agreement.
