Starter-led creation and second-chance opportunities give both offenses enough scoring routes to exceed the first-half total.
Caso Fundamental (3 Factores)
Zach Philipkoski opened with 28 points, four made threes, four assists and no turnovers. His shooting and passing give the defense more than one action to contain at the start of possessions. He does not need to repeat that scoring total for efficient guard initiation to generate early baskets.
St. Bonaventure conceded 19 offensive rebounds in its opener, while Canisius conceded 14. Those repeat attempts create scoring opportunities even when the first shot fails. If either defense again struggles to secure the rebound, the offense can reach a productive half without exceptional shooting.
Canisius made four of 22 threes, with Vinny Sigona and Michael Wilson Jr. combining to miss all ten of their attempts. The guards already have a perimeter role rather than needing a new source of attempts. A less extreme shooting outcome would add scoring through the existing offense, although continued misses remain a clear threat.
Red Team (Riesgos y Contra-Tesis)
Canisius can continue missing perimeter attempts while turnovers prevent its guards from finding a rhythm. St. Bonaventure can also lose the efficient shooting that powered its opening scoring production. Better defensive rebounding by both sides would remove the repeat attempts that help this play. Early foul trouble for Benjamin Bill could disrupt the Bonnies' interior finishing and leave them dependent on contested jumpers.
